When is the best time to plant a summer garden?

Pinning down when to plant your garden can be tricky for even the most experienced gardeners. You want to make sure that your plants are in the ground after the last frost, and not so soon that they flower too late. It’s a sweet spot. Planting times will vary from plant to plant, but for the most part, the most ideal time to plant in Central Arkansas is from late April (the last two weeks) into early May (the first two weeks). If you’re thinking you want to prep a garden for this year, get out there! It’s time!

Which vegetables can you plant in our climate?

We’re pretty lucky here in Central Arkansas because we’re able to grow a huge amount of vegetables in our gardens. We recommend planting things that you and your family will most want to eat. Popular items in gardens in our area include tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, beans, and more. If you wanted to go more exotic, try pumpkins, melons, or even potatoes or onions!
